Server management for machines nobody is looking after
We take over the patching, security and monitoring of servers you already have.
In plain English.
Lots of businesses own a server that was set up by a developer, a former employee or a hosting company that has stopped caring. It runs, so nobody touches it. Meanwhile the operating system falls out of support, disks fill up, backups fail silently and SSH is still open to the whole internet with password login.
We take over Linux servers running Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux or Rocky Linux, wherever they sit: with a hosting provider, on a cloud platform or in your own office. We audit them first, then patch, harden and document them, set up monitoring and backups, and plan operating system upgrades before support ends.
Management is a monthly fee per server, agreed up front after a free call and an initial audit. You keep ownership of the servers and the accounts they run on, and we work through access you can revoke at any time.
It suits you if.
- You have a server and are not sure who looks after it
- Your operating system is out of support or close to it
- You have never checked that your backups can be restored
- Your developer would rather write code than manage servers
- An auditor or insurer has asked how your servers are secured
What we do.
Initial audit
We list what runs on the server, who has access, which ports are open and what is out of date, and share the findings in plain English.
Patching on a schedule
Security updates are applied regularly, with bigger updates scheduled at quiet times and tested where possible.
Hardening
SSH keys only, a tight firewall, fail2ban, unused services removed and admin access logged.
Backups that are tested
Backups go off the server, and we restore from them on a schedule to prove they work.
OS upgrades planned
When Ubuntu or Debian versions approach end of life, we plan the upgrade or rebuild well ahead of the date.
How it runs.
- 01
Call and access
We talk through what the servers do on a free call and agree temporary access for the audit.
- 02
Audit
We check software versions, access, security settings and backups, then report back with priorities.
- 03
Fix and harden
Urgent issues are fixed first, then hardening, backups and monitoring are put in place.
- 04
Ongoing management
We patch, monitor and maintain the servers each month and keep the documentation current.
Questions people ask.
Which servers do you manage?
Mainly Linux servers running Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux or Rocky Linux, on any hosting provider or cloud platform, or in your own premises. We also look after Plesk and cPanel servers. Windows servers we assess case by case on the call.
How much does server management cost?
It is a monthly fee per server, agreed after a free call and an initial audit. The audit is priced separately, so you know where things stand before committing to ongoing management.
Do I have to move my server to you?
No. We manage servers where they are. You keep the hosting account and pay the provider directly, and we work through access you control and can remove whenever you like.
What happens if something breaks out of hours?
Monitoring alerts us when a server or service goes down. Out-of-hours cover is agreed with you up front as part of the monthly fee, so you know exactly what response to expect and when.
