AI search optimisation for how people ask now
We work on the content, facts and technical access that AI assistants draw on when they answer questions about your field.
In plain English.
More people now ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot or Perplexity for recommendations, and Google shows AI Overviews above its normal results. These tools pull information from websites, reviews and other sources, and sometimes name or link to the businesses they draw on. The work of improving your odds here is called AEO (answer engine optimisation) or GEO (generative engine optimisation).
Most of it rests on good SEO, with a few extra layers. Your site needs to be crawlable by the AI bots you want to allow, your key facts need to be stated clearly and consistently, and your pages need to answer real questions directly. Mentions on other trusted sites matter, because AI tools tend to repeat what several sources agree on.
Nobody can guarantee an AI assistant will recommend you, and the tools change often. We track a fixed set of prompts over time so you can see whether you are being mentioned more, and we report referral visits from AI tools in GA4.
It suits you if.
- Customers tell you they asked ChatGPT for a recommendation
- Competitors are named in AI answers and you are not
- Your robots.txt or CDN may be blocking AI crawlers by accident
- You have expertise worth quoting but it is buried in long pages
- You want a measured view of AI visibility instead of guesswork
What we do.
Crawler access review
Robots.txt, Cloudflare and firewall rules checked for OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Bingbot and others, so you choose who gets in.
Answer-ready content
Key pages restructured so questions are answered plainly near the top, with supporting detail below.
Consistent facts
Your services, prices, locations and credentials stated the same way across your site, profiles and directories.
Third-party mentions
A plan for being mentioned in reviews, industry lists and publications that AI tools often cite.
Prompt tracking
A fixed set of questions run across major AI assistants each month, with mentions and citations logged.
How it runs.
- 01
Baseline the prompts
We agree questions your customers would ask and record what each AI tool says today.
- 02
Open the doors
Crawler access, schema and site structure are fixed so AI systems can read your pages.
- 03
Rework key content
Priority pages are rewritten to answer questions clearly, and your facts are aligned everywhere.
- 04
Track and adjust
Prompts are re-run monthly and AI referral visits are watched in GA4.
Questions people ask.
Can you get ChatGPT to recommend my business?
No one can promise that. AI answers vary by wording, user and date, and the providers do not publish how they choose sources. What we can do is improve the signals they rely on and measure mentions over time, so you can judge whether it is working.
Is this different from normal SEO?
It overlaps a lot. Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT search both draw on web search results. The extra work is in crawler access, clear factual statements, structured data and mentions on other sites. Most clients run both side by side.
Should I block AI crawlers?
That is your call. Blocking training crawlers like GPTBot keeps your content out of future model training, while allowing search crawlers like OAI-SearchBot lets ChatGPT search find and cite you. We explain the trade-off and set robots.txt to match your choice.
How is AI search optimisation priced?
There is a one-off fee for the baseline and set-up, then a monthly fee for content and tracking if you want to continue. We put both figures in writing after the free call, so you can decide with the full picture.
