Prices and paying.
How much does a website cost?
A small business website is £395 for sole traders and businesses with up to 5 employees. Bespoke websites start from £995, and apps from £750. Every project gets a fixed quote in writing before you commit, and no VAT is charged on any of our prices.
Who qualifies for the £395 website?
Sole traders and registered businesses with up to 5 employees. It is a special offer, subject to availability. If your business is larger, standard builds start from £995.
Can I pay monthly?
Yes. The small business website is £44.95 a month for 12 months and bespoke websites from £94.95 a month, with hosting included and nothing upfront. After 12 months the website is yours, and hosting continues at £9.95 a month if you want it.
When do I pay?
Not before you have seen something. After a free call and a written quote, we build a working prototype. You only pay a deposit once you have tried it and decided to go ahead. If it is not right for you, you owe us nothing.
What are the ongoing costs after launch?
Hosting is from £9.95 a month if you want us to run the site for you. Managed AI chat is from £29.95 a month and an AI phone line from £99.95 a month. Changes and new features are quoted when you need them.
Do you charge VAT?
No. We do not currently charge VAT on any of our prices. If that ever changes, existing clients get 30 days notice.
How a project runs.
What happens on the free call?
Fifteen minutes with Garreth. You tell him what your business does, who you help and what is getting in the way. You do not need a brief or any technical knowledge.
How long does a website take?
The timeline goes into your written quote with the price, so you know it before you commit. Because a working prototype comes first, you see real progress early.
What do I need to provide?
An idea of what you do and who you help. A logo, photos or wording are useful if you have them. If you do not, we can help with those as well.
What support do I get after launch?
Thirty days of support after launch is included. After that you can keep us on for hosting and changes, or take the site elsewhere.
Ownership and hosting.
Do I own my website?
Yes. Everything we make for a paid project, including the content, code and designs, is transferred to you once it is paid for in full. We may show the work in our portfolio unless you ask us not to in writing.
Do I have to host with you?
No. Hosting with us is from £9.95 a month and means one place to call if anything goes wrong, but it is your choice.
Can I cancel a monthly service?
Yes. Monthly services can be cancelled with 30 days written notice. The current billing period is not refunded.
AI receptionists and chatbots.
Can I hear the AI receptionist before I buy?
Yes. Ring our own AI receptionist on +44 7418 374 570. It talks about our services, takes notes and can book you a call, so you hear exactly how it handles a real caller.
What does the AI need to know about my business?
It is trained on publicly available information and the details you choose to share, such as your services, prices, opening hours and the questions customers ask most. Nothing sensitive is ever required.
How much do the AI services cost?
Managed website and social chatbots start from £29.95 a month, and AI phone receptionists from £99.95 a month. We set them up, train them and keep them running.
Working with us.
Where are you based, and do you only work locally?
Flying Penguin is based in Nottingham and Derby. We work with businesses across the UK, mostly over calls and video, and we are happy to meet in person around the East Midlands.
Who will I deal with?
Garreth Sleigh, the founder. You talk to the person building your project, not an account manager.
What else can you help with besides websites?
Quite a lot: SEO and AI search, Google Ads and social, design and print, hosting, IT support and security, domains and business email, and software. Every service is listed on our services page.
Do you pay for referrals?
Yes. Refer a business for a website build and earn £50 when it goes live, or refer one for an AI Phone Agent subscription and earn £50 plus £5 a month while they stay subscribed.
