Fitment data that tells buyers exactly what fits
We map your parts to vehicles using TecDoc K-Types, ACES and PIES or your own tables, and keep that data clean across your shop and marketplaces.
In plain English.
Fitment data links each part to the vehicles it fits. In the UK and Europe that usually means TecDoc K-Types, the vehicle identifiers in the TecAlliance catalogue that eBay also uses for its parts compatibility lists. In North America the standards are ACES for fitment and PIES for product attributes, both maintained by the Auto Care Association and tied to its vehicle database, VCdb.
TecDoc and the Auto Care databases are licensed, and the licence sits with you. Plenty of parts never appear in either, especially performance, motorsport and restoration parts. For those we build your own fitment tables, using engine codes, chassis codes and year ranges, and link them to K-Types wherever a match exists.
We work with GSM Performance on vehicle fitment for its WooCommerce stores, so this is everyday work for us. What you end up with is a shop where a customer selects their car and sees only parts that fit, eBay listings that carry the right compatibility, and staff who no longer answer the same fitment question by email.
It suits you if.
- You sell parts and buyers often ask whether they fit
- Your eBay listings lack compatibility tables or have wrong ones
- You hold a TecDoc licence but the data is not reaching your shop
- You sell into North America and need ACES and PIES files
- Your fitment lives in a spreadsheet only one person understands
What we do.
TecDoc K-Type mapping
We link your SKUs to K-Types from your licensed TecDoc data, matching by brand and manufacturer part number.
Custom fitment tables
For parts outside TecDoc, we build fitment by make, model, engine code, chassis code and year range, in a format your team can maintain.
ACES and PIES files
For North American trading partners, we produce ACES XML fitment files and PIES product files mapped to VCdb and PCdb identifiers.
eBay compatibility
K-Type fitment is pushed into eBay parts compatibility, so your listings appear when buyers search eBay by vehicle.
Gap and conflict checks
Reports on parts with no fitment, overlapping or contradictory entries, and vehicles with suspiciously few parts.
How it runs.
- 01
Audit
We look at what fitment you hold, where it comes from and how much of your catalogue has none at all.
- 02
Model
We agree the structure, whether K-Types, custom tables or both, and how it links to your products.
- 03
Map
We map the catalogue in batches, checking samples with the staff who know the parts best.
- 04
Publish and maintain
Fitment goes live in your shop and on eBay, with a routine for new parts and new vehicles.
Questions people ask.
Can you supply TecDoc data?
No. TecDoc data is licensed by TecAlliance, and the licence has to be in your name. We work with the data you are licensed to use, and can help you understand which TecAlliance products suit your business before you sign up.
How long does fitment mapping take?
It depends on catalogue size and how much fitment you already hold. Parts that carry a manufacturer number listed in TecDoc map quickly, while building fitment by hand for motorsport parts takes longer. We estimate after the audit and quote a fixed price.
What do you need from me to start?
Your product export, any fitment data from suppliers, access to your TecDoc licence if you have one, and time from someone who knows the parts. Their knowledge settles the edge cases that no catalogue covers.
Who maintains it afterwards?
Your team can, using the guide we provide, or we can keep it updated as you add products under a monthly plan agreed up front. New vehicle models arrive in TecDoc regularly, so occasional reviews are worth planning for.
