Old drawings turned into CAD you can edit
We redraw paper prints, scans and PDFs as accurate DWG and DXF files, build 3D models from 2D drawings, and translate between CAD formats.
In plain English.
Many businesses still rely on drawings that only exist on paper, as scanned images or as PDFs from a supplier that closed years ago. They cannot be edited, and machine shops increasingly want a DXF or STEP file. We redraw them properly in CAD rather than auto-tracing, because traced lines are approximate and produce messy files nobody can use.
Each drawing is rebuilt from its stated dimensions, with unclear or conflicting values flagged for you to confirm. We can stay in 2D or build a full 3D model from the views. We also convert between formats, for example from old DWG versions, IGES or native files into clean STEP, and repair files that import with broken geometry.
It suits you if.
- You have archive drawings on paper or as scanned PDFs
- A supplier needs DXF or STEP and you only have prints
- Your files are in an old or unusual format
- You want 3D models of parts that only exist as 2D drawings
What we do.
Redrawn, not traced
Drawings rebuilt from their dimensions, so the geometry is exact and the files are clean.
Query list
Missing, unclear or conflicting dimensions listed for you to confirm before release.
2D to 3D
Orthographic views turned into 3D solid models and exported as STEP.
Format conversion
Translation between DWG, DXF, IGES, STEP and other formats, with geometry checked after import.
Batch work
Large archive conversions handled in batches to one consistent layer and title block standard.
How it runs.
- 01
Free call
Tell us how many drawings there are, their condition and the format you need.
- 02
Sample
We convert one representative drawing so you can check quality and standard.
- 03
Convert
The rest are converted in batches, with queries collected as we go.
- 04
Handover
Files are delivered with a drawing index and every query resolved.
Questions people ask.
Can you just auto-trace my scans?
Auto-tracing produces lines that are close but not exact, and files full of broken segments. They are hard to edit and can cause problems on cutting machines. We redraw from the dimensions instead, so the result is accurate and clean.
What if dimensions are missing or unreadable?
We list them on a query sheet. Sometimes we can work them out from other dimensions, and we mark those clearly as derived. Anything we cannot confirm is left for you or the original supplier to check before the drawing is released.
How much does conversion cost?
Usually priced per drawing, depending on complexity and the condition of the original. Large archives get a batch price. We convert a sample first so you can see the result before committing to the full job.
Can you convert between CAD formats?
Yes. We translate between DWG, DXF, IGES, STEP and other common formats and check the geometry afterwards, because conversions can lose surfaces or flip faces. Native formats depend on the software involved, so tell us what you have.
