3D CAD models that fit together first time

We model parts and assemblies in parametric CAD, check how they fit, and supply STEP files and drawings your manufacturer can use.

3D CAD Modelling: where you are, the work, and where it gets you.

In plain English.

A 3D model lets you see and check a design before anything is made. You can confirm that parts fit together, that bolts can be reached with a spanner and that a lid clears its hinge. We build parametric models, meaning key dimensions drive the geometry, so changing a size updates every linked feature rather than forcing a restart.

Models are built as individual parts, then put together in assemblies with interference checks, so clashes show up on screen and not on the bench. Your manufacturer gets STEP files, the neutral format CNC shops and injection moulders work from, plus 2D drawings for critical dimensions and tolerances. STL or 3MF files are supplied for anything going to a 3D printer.

It suits you if.

  • You are developing a product with several parts that must fit together
  • A CNC shop or moulder has asked for a STEP file
  • You want to check a design before paying for tooling
  • You need a model for rendering, marketing or investor presentations

What we do.

Parametric models

Key dimensions drive the design, so a change ripples through every feature that depends on it.

Assemblies and interference checks

Parts mated in assemblies with clash detection before anything is cut.

Neutral export formats

STEP and IGES for manufacturers, STL and 3MF for printing, with units and orientation set correctly.

Drawings from the model

Dimensioned 2D drawings generated from the model, so they stay in step when it changes.

Ready for visuals

The same model can be used for photorealistic renders and exploded views.

  2. 02

    Concept model

We block out the main parts and check overall fit and proportions with you.

  3. 03

    Detail

Each part is detailed for its manufacturing method, with the assembly checked for clashes.

  4. 04

    Release

STEP, STL and drawing files are issued for quoting, prototyping or production.

Questions people ask.

What is the difference between STEP and STL?

STEP holds precise solid geometry and is what machine shops and moulders want. STL breaks the surface into triangles and is mainly for 3D printing. A STEP file can produce an accurate STL, but turning an STL back into precise geometry is slow and approximate.

Can you model from an existing part?

Yes. We measure the part with calipers and gauges and model it. For complex curved surfaces a 3D scan helps, and we can arrange one and use it as reference. Some features may need confirming with you if the original part is worn.

How much does 3D modelling cost?

It depends on the number of parts and how complex they are. A single bracket is quick, while a product with a dozen moulded parts is a bigger project. We give a fixed quote after seeing what you have, so there are no open-ended hourly bills.

Can I make changes after the model is finished?

Yes. Because the models are parametric, many changes are fast to make. Small revisions are quoted as they come up, and you keep all the files, so another engineer could also make changes later if you wanted.
