Faster pages for real visitors on real phones

We fix slow loading, laggy buttons and jumping layouts, and check the results with Google's own field data.

Website Speed and Core Web Vitals: where you are, the work, and where it gets you.

In plain English.

Core Web Vitals are three measures Google uses to judge how a page feels to use. Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) is how quickly the main content appears. Interaction to Next Paint (INP) is how quickly the page responds when you tap something. Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) is how much things jump about while it loads.

Google's targets are an LCP of 2.5 seconds or less, an INP of 200 milliseconds or less and a CLS of 0.1 or less, measured on real visitors through the Chrome UX Report. A slow site loses visitors whatever Google thinks, so speed work tends to pay back in enquiries and sales as well as search.

We measure first, using field data where it exists and lab tests in Lighthouse and WebPageTest. Then we work through the causes: oversized images, render-blocking scripts, slow hosting, heavy page builders and third-party tags. Each change is tested so nothing breaks along the way.

It suits you if.

  • Search Console flags your URLs as 'Poor' or 'Needs improvement'
  • Your site feels slow on mobile data
  • You use a page builder such as Elementor, Divi or WPBakery
  • Your shop slows down as more plugins are added
  • You pay for ad clicks that leave before the page loads

What we do.

Field and lab measurement

Chrome UX Report data shows what real visitors experience, and lab tests show why.

Image and font work

Images converted to WebP or AVIF, sized correctly and lazy-loaded below the fold, with fonts preloaded and trimmed.

Script control

Render-blocking CSS and JavaScript deferred or removed, and third-party tags such as chat widgets and pixels loaded later.

Caching and CDN

Page caching, browser caching and a CDN such as Cloudflare configured to suit your site.

Hosting review

Server response time checked, with an honest view on whether your current hosting is the bottleneck.

How it runs.

  1. 01

    Measure

We record field data from Search Console and PageSpeed Insights, plus lab tests on key templates.

  2. 02

    Find the causes

Waterfall charts show exactly which files, scripts and server delays slow each page.

  3. 03

    Fix on staging

Changes are made on a copy of the site and checked for broken layouts or features.

  4. 04

    Release and re-measure

Once live, we track field data over the following weeks, since it updates on a rolling 28-day window.

Questions people ask.

Will speed work improve my rankings?

Core Web Vitals are one of many signals Google uses, and on their own they rarely move rankings much. The bigger gain is usually in visitors who stay, enquire and buy. We report both so you can see where the value lands.

Can you make my page builder site fast?

Usually faster, though there are limits to how lean a heavy builder can get. We start with caching, images and scripts, which often makes a big difference. If the builder itself is the bottleneck, we will say so and explain your options.

Do I need to change hosting?

Not always. Many slow sites are slow because of images and plugins rather than the server. If your server takes too long to respond, we will show you the numbers. Our managed hosting starts from £9.95 a month if a move makes sense.

How much does speed optimisation cost?

A fixed project price based on the size of the site and how many templates need work. You get the quote after we have run the first measurements, so it reflects the real problems on your site rather than a guess.
