A static website is built into plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript files before anyone visits. There is no database and no admin login on the server, so there is far less to go wrong. Pages are served from a content delivery network such as Cloudflare Pages or Netlify, close to wherever your visitor happens to be.
We build static sites with frameworks like Astro or Eleventy, and add a Git-based editor such as Decap CMS if you want to change text without code. Forms run through a small serverless function. The approach suits brochure sites, documentation, campaign pages and portfolios that have no need for user accounts.

How much does a static website cost?
Static sites are quoted as fixed prices after a free call. A simple one can come under our £395 small business website, and larger custom builds start from £995. Static files are cheap to host, and our hosting starts from £9.95 a month.
Can I edit a static site myself?
Yes, if we add a CMS. You log in, edit text or upload images, press publish and the site rebuilds in a minute or two. Without a CMS, changes go through us or another developer.
What can a static site not do?
It is the wrong fit for user logins, live stock levels or anything that changes for each visitor. Those need a server or a hybrid set-up. Small dynamic parts can be added with serverless functions where they make sense.
Is it really more secure?
There is no database and no CMS login on the server, which removes the most common ways small sites get hacked. The CMS, if you use one, sits separately with its own login and two-factor authentication.
