Static sites hosted with almost nothing to break
Plain HTML or a site built with Astro, Hugo or Eleventy, served quickly through a CDN.
In plain English.
A static website is a set of ready-made HTML, CSS and image files, with no database or PHP working behind each page view. That makes it quick to load and very hard to hack, because there is no login page or plugin for anyone to attack. Plenty of small business sites never need anything more.
We host static sites built by hand or with generators such as Astro, Hugo, Eleventy and Jekyll. The files are served through a content delivery network, which keeps copies close to your visitors, and each push to your Git repository can rebuild and publish the site automatically.
Contact forms still work, through a small serverless function or a form service, and SSL is included. Static hosting starts at £9.95 a month, and if you later want to edit pages yourself, we can add a headless CMS so you update content in a browser without touching code.
It suits you if.
- Your site rarely changes and does not need a login area
- You want to stop worrying about plugin updates
- Your site was built with Astro, Hugo, Eleventy or Jekyll
- You care about page speed and Core Web Vitals
- You want a cheap, low-risk home for a landing page
What we do.
CDN delivery
Pages and images are served through a CDN such as Cloudflare, so visitors get the files from a nearby location instead of one distant server.
Deploy from Git
Push a change and the site rebuilds and publishes itself, with earlier versions kept so a bad change can be undone.
Forms without a server
Contact and quote forms are handled by a serverless function or form service and delivered to your inbox, with spam filtering.
Nothing to patch
There is no CMS core or plugin to update, which removes the most common way small sites get hacked.
Headless CMS option
If you want to edit pages yourself, a headless CMS such as Decap can sit on top of the static build.
How it runs.
- 01
Quick call
We check how the site is built today and whether static hosting suits the way you use it.
- 02
Set up the pipeline
We connect your repository, configure the build and add redirects from any old URLs.
- 03
Publish
DNS is switched, SSL is issued and the forms are tested by sending real messages to your inbox.
- 04
Stay hands-off
Most months there is nothing to do. When you want a change, you push it or ask us.
Questions people ask.
Can you turn my WordPress site into a static site?
Often, yes. If your site does not need logins, a shop or frequent editing by several people, we can rebuild it as a static site or export it. We check what you rely on first, such as forms and search, and quote the conversion separately from hosting.
How much does static hosting cost?
From £9.95 a month, which covers hosting, SSL, deploys and support. Domain registration is separate and paid directly or passed through at cost. Changes to the site itself are quoted as and when you need them.
How do I update my static site?
If you are comfortable with Git, you edit the files and push. If not, we can add a simple headless CMS so you edit pages in a browser, or you can send your changes to us and we make them.
What happens if I want to move host?
Static sites are the easiest websites to move. The files and the repository belong to you, and any static host can serve them. If you leave, we hand over repository access and the build settings.
