Parts Finder Widget: where you are, the work, and where it gets you.

In plain English.

A parts finder widget is the box at the top of a parts shop that asks "what do you drive?". The customer enters a registration or picks make, model, year and engine, and from then on the shop shows only parts that fit. It makes a large catalogue usable for someone who does not know a single part number.

We build parts finders for WooCommerce as part of our plugin library, and as standalone widgets for other platforms. The widget reads your fitment data (TecDoc K-Types, custom tables or a mix of the two) and can put a reg lookup at the front if you have DVLA or commercial data access. The chosen vehicle is remembered as the customer browses.

A good parts finder also copes when there is no match. The customer sees a clear message and a way to ask you about the part, instead of an empty page. Those no-match searches are logged, which gives you a running list of vehicles your catalogue is missing.

It suits you if.

  • You run a parts shop with fitment data buyers cannot easily use
  • You sell on WooCommerce and want search by vehicle
  • You want a reg lookup at the top of your shop
  • You want to know which vehicles customers search for most
  • You supply trade customers who need a quick parts check

What we do.

Reg or dropdown search

Customers can enter a number plate or step through make, model, year and engine. Each list only shows options you actually have parts for.

Shop-wide filtering

Once a vehicle is chosen, categories, search results and related products are filtered to fit, with a clear badge on product pages.

Saved vehicles

The chosen car is kept for the visit, and account holders can save several vehicles to their own garage list.

No-match handling

If nothing fits, the customer sees alternatives or an enquiry form, and the search is logged for you to review.

Search reports

See the most searched vehicles, the ones with no matching parts and how vehicle searches turn into orders.

Embeddable anywhere

The widget can sit on your homepage, category pages, a landing page or a trade partner's site.

How it runs.

  1. 01

    Check the data

We confirm your fitment data can support vehicle search and fix any structural problems first.

  2. 02

    Prototype

You try a working finder on a copy of your shop before paying a deposit.

  3. 03

    Install and style

We install the widget, match it to your design and connect any reg lookup you want to use.

  4. 04

    Review searches

Some weeks after launch we go through the search logs with you and fill the biggest gaps in your range.

Questions people ask.

Will it work without fitment data?

Not well. The widget can only show what fits if your products are linked to vehicles. If your fitment is incomplete, we can help fill it through our part fitment mapping service, before or alongside installing the finder.

Does it need a reg lookup?

No. Make, model, year and engine dropdowns work on their own and cost nothing per search. A reg lookup is quicker for customers, but it needs a data source that returns a K-Type or a matching vehicle ID, usually from a paid provider.

How much does a parts finder cost?

It is a fixed quote after a free call. The price depends on your platform, the state of your fitment data and if you want a reg lookup added. Any lookup provider fees are yours and are paid to the provider directly.

Can I use it on Shopify?

Yes, as an embedded widget backed by a small service we host, though WooCommerce gives us the most control over filtering. We will tell you on the first call which approach suits your shop and what each would involve.
