Joomla websites designed and kept up to date
New Joomla designs, upgrades from Joomla 3 to Joomla 5, and a straight answer on whether to stay on the platform.
In plain English.
Joomla still runs many club, school, parish and membership websites, often built years ago and never upgraded. Joomla 3 reached end of life in August 2023, so sites on it no longer receive security fixes. If yours is one of them, the choice is between upgrading to Joomla 5 or moving to another platform.
We design custom Joomla templates, check which extensions have current versions, and carry content and users across. Where an old extension has no replacement, we find an alternative or rebuild the feature. If moving to WordPress or another CMS makes more sense for you, we will say so and quote for that instead.
It suits you if.
- Your site still runs Joomla 3 or older
- You use Joomla access levels for members or groups
- Your extensions have stopped getting updates
- You want a fresh design but would rather keep Joomla
What we do.
Joomla 5 upgrades
A planned upgrade path through Joomla 4 to 5, tested on a staging copy before anything changes on your live site.
Extension audit
Each extension is checked for a supported version, and abandoned ones are replaced.
Custom templates
A modern template built for your site, using Joomla template overrides rather than edits to core files.
Users and access levels kept
Registered users, groups and access levels are carried over, so members keep their logins.

Questions people ask.
How much does a Joomla upgrade or redesign cost?
It depends on how many extensions need replacing and whether a new design is included. We look at the site first, then give you a fixed price. Full redesigns are in line with our bespoke websites, from £995.
Is Joomla still safe to use?
Joomla 5 is actively maintained and safe when kept updated. Joomla 3 and earlier no longer get security fixes, which leaves sites on those versions exposed. Upgrading or moving platform closes that gap.
Should I move to WordPress instead?
Sometimes. If you rely heavily on Joomla access levels or particular extensions, staying can be simpler. If the site is mostly pages and news, WordPress may be cheaper to look after. We explain the trade-offs on the call.
Will my members lose their accounts?
No. User accounts, groups and passwords move across with the upgrade. If we change platform, we plan how members will log in on the new site and help you tell them in advance.
