Ecommerce Website Design: where you are, the work, and where it gets you.

In plain English.

An online shop has more moving parts than a brochure site. Products need variations and stock levels, checkout has to take card payments and Apple Pay, and postage rules have to match what your courier actually charges. We build shops that handle those details properly, so orders arrive complete and you are not fixing them by hand.

Most of our shops run on WooCommerce, the ecommerce plugin for WordPress, because you own the code and the data outright. Where Shopify suits you better, for example a small range and no appetite for updates, we build on Shopify instead and explain why. Either way, you try a working prototype with your own products in it before you pay a deposit.

It suits you if.

  • You sell by phone, email or social messages and want a shop that takes payment itself
  • Your current shop is slow, dated or hard to update
  • You have product variations, such as sizes or colours, that need their own stock
  • You want to own your shop and its customer data
  • You need postage rules that reflect weight, size or delivery zone

What we do.

Platform chosen for your business

We compare WooCommerce and Shopify against your range, budget and team, and put our recommendation in writing with the reasons.

A checkout built for phones

Card payments through Stripe or PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay, guest checkout and postcode lookup, so buyers can finish an order with one thumb.

Postage and VAT set up properly

Weight and zone-based shipping, click and collect, and VAT rates for UK and overseas buyers, configured and tested with real baskets.

A catalogue structure that grows

Categories, attributes and filters planned before the build, so customers can narrow hundreds of products down to the few they want.

Tracking from launch day

GA4 ecommerce events, Google Search Console and Merchant Center connected at launch, so you can see what sells and where buyers came from.

How it runs.

  1. 01

    Free 15-minute call

Garreth asks what you sell, how you sell it now and what gets in the way. You get an honest view on whether a new shop is the answer.

  2. 02

    Scope and price fixed

We write down the pages, features, integrations and price. Nothing starts until you have agreed it.

  3. 03

    Working prototype

You click through a working version of the shop with some of your real products. A deposit is only due if you decide to go ahead.

  4. 04

    Launch and handover

We load the full catalogue, test orders end to end, switch the domain over and show you how to run the shop.

Questions people ask.

How much does an ecommerce website cost?

Our bespoke websites start from £995. A shop usually needs more work than that because of products, payments and postage, so we give you a fixed quote after a free call. It is agreed in writing before work starts. Third-party costs, such as paid plugins or Shopify's monthly plan, are yours, paid directly or passed through at cost.

How long does it take to build an online shop?

It depends mostly on the size of your catalogue and how ready your product data is. We agree a timetable with you at the scoping stage, and the prototype comes early so you can see progress. Clean spreadsheets of products and photos are the biggest single thing that speeds a build up.

What do I need to give you?

Your product list with prices, descriptions and photos, ideally in a spreadsheet. We also need your courier prices, your returns policy and access to your domain. If your product data is messy, we can tidy it as part of the job, and we tell you up front what that adds to the price.

Will I own the shop?

Yes. On WooCommerce you own the code, the database and every customer record, and you can move hosting whenever you like. On Shopify you own your store and its data under Shopify's terms. Either way we hand over every login and keep your domain registered in your name.
