WooCommerce built by people who write the plugins
From a new WooCommerce shop to a single custom checkout rule, we write clean PHP that survives the next WooCommerce update.
In plain English.
WooCommerce is free, open source and runs on WordPress, which means you own every line of it. It also means quality varies a great deal. Plenty of shops run on a stack of overlapping plugins and theme hacks that break whenever WooCommerce or PHP is updated.
We build WooCommerce the careful way: a lightweight theme, the fewest plugins that do the job, and custom code written as proper plugins using WooCommerce hooks, never as edits to core files. We support High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS), the newer way WooCommerce stores orders, and test everything on PHP 8.3.
We also maintain our own library of WooCommerce plugins. Many of the problems you are likely to meet with stock, pricing and checkout are ones we have already solved in code, and that experience goes straight into the build we do for you.
It suits you if.
- You want a shop you fully own, with no platform fee on each sale
- You need custom rules, such as trade prices or product add-ons
- Your WooCommerce site breaks after updates
- You have outgrown a page-builder theme and want something faster
- You need WooCommerce to talk to another system
What we do.
Custom plugin development
Features written as standalone plugins with WooCommerce hooks and filters, so a WooCommerce update does not wipe your changes.
Checkout and cart changes
Conditional fields, delivery date pickers, minimum order rules and block checkout customisation, tested against your payment gateway.
HPOS and PHP 8 compatibility
We move older shops onto High-Performance Order Storage and current PHP versions, and fix or replace the plugins that cannot cope.
Speed work
Object caching with Redis, image optimisation and database clean-ups for shops that have slowed down as orders built up.
Our plugin library
Where one of our existing WooCommerce plugins already does what you need, you get a tested tool and avoid paying for new code.
How it runs.
- 01
A quick chat first
Fifteen minutes with Garreth to talk through the shop or the feature. We tell you whether it needs custom code or whether an existing plugin will do.
- 02
Spec and quote
A short written spec of what the code will do, with a fixed price. You agree it before we write anything.
- 03
Build on staging
We develop on a copy of your shop, so live orders are never at risk. On new shops you test a working prototype before paying a deposit.
- 04
Deploy and document
Changes go live at a quiet time, we watch the first orders through, and you receive notes plus the source code.
Questions people ask.
Can you fix a WooCommerce site someone else built?
Usually, yes. We start by auditing the theme, plugins and custom code to see what is causing trouble. You get a plain list of what we found and what we would change, with a price, before anything is touched on the live shop.
How much does custom WooCommerce work cost?
It depends on the feature. A small checkout tweak is a very different job from a trade pricing system. Every piece of work gets a fixed price after a free call, agreed in writing before work starts, so the number you approve is the number you pay.
Will updates break my custom features?
We write custom features as separate plugins that use WooCommerce's official hooks, which is the approach WooCommerce itself recommends. That keeps them clear of core files. We still test on staging before major updates, because third-party plugins sometimes change underneath you.
Do I own the code?
Yes. You get the source code for anything we write for you, and it lives on your own hosting. If you later work with another developer, they can pick it up and carry on, and our technical notes explain where everything is.
