It relies on its own crawler, OAI-SearchBot, and on results from third-party search providers, so a presence in Bing matters too. If your site is blocked, missing from Bing or vague about what you do, you are unlikely to appear.
We check that OAI-SearchBot can crawl your site, set up Bing Webmaster Tools and submit your sitemaps, and make sure your key pages state plainly who you are, what you offer, where and at what price. Can you guarantee ChatGPT will mention me?
No. ChatGPT answers vary by wording, location and user history, and OpenAI does not publish how it picks sources. We improve the things it can see and measure mentions over time, with the prompts and results shared so you can check them yourself.
What is the difference between GPTBot and OAI-SearchBot?
GPTBot collects content that may be used to train future OpenAI models. OAI-SearchBot finds pages to show and link in ChatGPT search. You can allow one and block the other. Many businesses allow search and decide separately about training.
