One vehicle data API for every system you run
A single private API that gathers vehicle data from each source you use and hands it to your website, apps and tools in one format.
In plain English.
Once a business uses vehicle data in more than one place, things get messy. The website calls one provider, the workshop app another, the eBay tool a third, each with its own keys, its own field names and its own bill. A vehicle data API of your own sits in the middle, so every system asks one place and gets the same answer.
Behind it, we connect the sources you are entitled to use: the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service, the DVSA MOT History API, commercial VRM providers, TecDoc data under your TecAlliance licence or your own fitment tables. The API merges them into one clean record per vehicle, with fields named the same way everywhere and the source of each value recorded.
Because every request passes through one service, you can cache results within each provider's terms, cap spending, see which system made which lookups and switch provider later without rewriting your website. We host it on UK servers or on your own infrastructure, and document it so another developer could pick it up.
It suits you if.
- You call vehicle data from more than one website, app or tool
- Your lookup bills are higher than you expected
- You want to switch provider without rebuilding everything
- You combine government data with licensed catalogue data
- You plan to offer vehicle data to partners or trade customers
What we do.
Single endpoint
One REST API with a separate key for each internal system, returning a consistent JSON vehicle record whatever the source.
Source merging
Data from DVLA, DVSA, commercial providers and your own tables is combined, with rules for which source wins when they disagree.
Spending limits
Caching, daily caps and per-system quotas stop a bug or a scraper from running up a large bill overnight.
Usage reporting
A simple dashboard showing lookups by system, by source and by day, so you know what each tool costs to run.
Provider independence
Your systems talk to your API and never to the provider, so changing supplier is a change in one place.
Documented and secure
OpenAPI documentation, key rotation, rate limiting and logs that keep personal data to a minimum.
How it runs.
- 01
Audit your lookups
We list every place you use vehicle data today, which provider it calls and what it costs each month.
- 02
Design the record
We agree one vehicle record that covers what all your systems need, and the rules for merging sources.
- 03
Build and switch over
We build the API, test it against real plates and move each system across one at a time.
- 04
Run it
We host and monitor the service, and handle provider changes under a support plan agreed up front.
Questions people ask.
Can I resell vehicle data through this API?
Only if your provider contracts allow it. Most government and commercial data comes with terms on how it can be shared. We read the terms with you before building anything partner-facing, and can limit partners to the fields you are allowed to pass on.
How much does a vehicle data API cost?
The build is priced per project and agreed before work starts. Hosting and monitoring are a monthly fee fixed up front. Data provider charges stay between you and the provider, and the caching is designed to keep them down.
What do you need from me?
A list of the systems that use vehicle data, copies of your provider agreements or API documentation, and access to test keys. If you do not have DVLA or DVSA keys yet, we help you apply in your business name.
Do I own the API?
Yes. The code, the documentation and the data you are licensed to store are yours. We can host and support it, or hand it to your own team with everything they need to run it themselves.
