Turn a product idea into something you can make
We take you from sketches and rough ideas to tested prototypes and the CAD files a manufacturer needs to quote production.
In plain English.
Most product ideas start as a sketch and a problem. Getting from there to something a factory can quote involves a lot of decisions: materials, how the parts join, how it will be made at your volumes and what it might cost. We work through those decisions with you in stages, so money goes on prototypes only once the design is ready for them.
Each stage gives you something concrete: concept sketches, a 3D CAD model, printed prototypes to hold and test, and finally STEP files and drawings for manufacture. Where the right answer is a specialist, such as a toolmaker or a materials expert, we say so and help you find one. Protecting your idea through a patent is your call, and worth taking advice on early.
It suits you if.
- You have an invention and do not know where to start
- You are a small business adding a physical product to your range
- You have a prototype that works but cannot be made economically
- You need manufacturing files to get quotes from UK or overseas factories
What we do.
Staged process
Clear stages with a fixed price for each, so you can pause, test or raise funds between them.
Design for manufacture
Wall thicknesses, draft angles, fixings and tolerances chosen for the method you will use, such as injection moulding, CNC or sheet metal.
Printed prototypes
FDM or resin prototypes to check size, feel and fit before committing to tooling.
Manufacturing pack
STEP models, drawings and a bill of materials ready to send to manufacturers for quotes.
Visuals for selling
Renders of the product for crowdfunding pages, retailers and investors before it exists.
How it runs.
- 01
Free call
Tell us the idea and the problem it solves. We can sign an NDA first if you prefer.
- 02
Concept
We explore a few ways to solve the problem and agree a direction with you.
- 03
Develop and prototype
We model the design in CAD, print prototypes and refine it after you test them.
- 04
Manufacturing files
We prepare the files and bill of materials that manufacturers need to quote.
Questions people ask.
Will you sign an NDA?
Yes. We are happy to sign a non-disclosure agreement before you share the details of your idea. Bring your own or we can provide a simple one. For stronger protection, talk to a patent attorney before showing the idea publicly.
How much does product design cost?
It varies widely with complexity. We price each stage separately and agree it before starting, so you can stop after concepts or a first prototype if you want. Prototype printing and any third-party testing are passed through at cost.
Can you find me a manufacturer?
We can suggest manufacturers and help you send a clear request for quotation with the right files attached. The commercial agreement is between you and the manufacturer, and we recommend getting more than one quote before you commit to tooling.
How long until I have a prototype?
A first printed prototype of a simple product can often be ready within a few weeks of agreeing the concept. More complex products need several rounds of testing and changes. We map out the stages and likely timings on the call.
