Keyword Research: where you are, the work, and where it gets you.

In plain English.

Keyword research shows the words people use to look for what you sell, how often they search and how hard each term is to rank for. The words customers use are often different from the ones a business uses internally, which is why so many sites target terms nobody searches for.

We pull data from Google Keyword Planner, Search Console, Ahrefs and Semrush, then add the questions from People Also Ask, Reddit and your own enquiries. Every term is checked against the live results to see what Google thinks the searcher wants: a product, a guide, a local business or a comparison.

The output is a keyword map. Each group of related terms is assigned to one existing or planned page, so pages do not compete with each other and gaps are obvious. It becomes the brief for content, page titles and internal links.

It suits you if.

  • You are planning a new website or restructure
  • Your pages rank for terms that never convert
  • You sell in a niche where tools show tiny volumes
  • You want to target new services or areas
  • Several of your pages seem to compete with each other

What we do.

Demand and difficulty

Monthly volumes, seasonal trends and difficulty scores show where effort is likely to pay back.

Search intent checks

Each term is checked against the current results, so we never put a guide keyword on a product page or the reverse.

Commercial value scoring

We weight terms by how close they sit to a purchase and what each customer is worth to you.

Long-tail and question terms

Low-volume but specific searches often convert best. We collect them from Search Console and question sources that tools miss.

Local modifiers

For local businesses we check how demand splits between Nottingham, Derby, surrounding towns and "near me" searches.

Keyword to page map

Every group is assigned to one URL, with new pages flagged where nothing on the site fits.

How it runs.

  1. 01

    Seed list

We start from your services, products, customer language and current Search Console queries.

  2. 02

    Expand and gather data

Tools and question sources expand the list, and we pull volume, difficulty and trend for each term.

  3. 03

    Classify

Terms are grouped, intent is checked against live results and commercial value is scored with you.

  4. 04

    Map and hand over

Clusters are assigned to pages and you get the map, the gaps and the quick wins, with a call to explain them.

Questions people ask.

How much does keyword research cost?

The fee is fixed in advance and depends on how many products, services or locations need covering. A single-service local business is a quick job, while a large catalogue across several markets takes more time to research properly.

Are the search volumes accurate?

They are estimates. Keyword Planner groups and rounds its figures, and third-party tools model their own. We treat them as a guide to relative demand and lean on your own Search Console data wherever it exists.

My niche shows zero searches. Is that a problem?

Not necessarily. Tools often miss specialist terms with small volumes, and those searches tend to come from serious buyers. We use Search Console, forum questions and your enquiry history to find demand the tools do not show.

What do I do with the research?

Use it to set page titles, plan new content and brief your writer or developer. If you want us to act on it, the same map feeds our content writing, content strategy and ongoing SEO work.
