Google Analytics 4 that answers real questions
We set up GA4 through Google Tag Manager with consent, key events and links to Google Ads and Search Console.
In plain English.
Google Analytics 4 replaced Universal Analytics in 2023, and many sites still run a default GA4 set-up that was switched on and forgotten. It counts page views but cannot tell you which channel brought the enquiries, which pages lead to sales or where people give up.
We set up GA4 through Google Tag Manager, with events for form submissions, phone and email clicks, downloads, bookings and purchases, marked as key events where they matter. Consent Mode v2 is connected to your cookie banner, internal traffic is filtered out, and data retention is set to the 14-month maximum.
GA4 is then linked to Google Ads, Search Console and, for larger sites, BigQuery, so your data sits together. We finish with a short walkthrough and a few saved reports so you can find the answers you need without hunting through menus.
It suits you if.
- Your GA4 property shows traffic but no conversions
- You are not sure your cookie banner and analytics agree
- You run ads and want to see which ones lead to sales
- Your site or shop moved platform and tracking broke
- You find GA4 confusing and want reports you can read
What we do.
Tag Manager set-up
A clean Google Tag Manager container with named tags, triggers and variables, so changes do not need a developer.
Key events
Forms, calls, email clicks, bookings, downloads and purchases tracked and marked as key events.
Ecommerce tracking
GA4 ecommerce events from product view to purchase, with revenue that matches your shop's orders.
Consent Mode v2
Analytics and ad tags respond to your cookie banner choices, as Google requires for UK and EEA visitors.
Linked Google products
Google Ads, Search Console, Merchant Center and BigQuery links set up where they apply.

Questions people ask.
Is my old Universal Analytics data gone?
Universal Analytics stopped collecting data in 2023, and Google has since removed access to old properties. If you exported reports beforehand, we can bring them into Looker Studio for comparison. GA4 data starts from the day it was set up.
Do I need a cookie banner for GA4?
In the UK, analytics cookies generally need consent under PECR. We connect GA4 to your cookie banner through Consent Mode v2, so tags respect each visitor's choice and Google can model some of the gaps left by people who decline.
How long does GA4 set-up take?
For a typical business website, a few days of work spread over a week or two, including testing. Online shops with ecommerce tracking take a little longer. We agree the scope and a fixed price on the call.
What do you need from me?
Admin access to your GA4 property and Google Tag Manager, or permission to create them, plus a website login or developer contact for the Tag Manager snippet. Access to Google Ads and Search Console lets us link everything together.
