Find where AI fits before you spend on it
A short, structured review of your processes, data and current AI use, ending in a ranked plan and a written AI policy your staff can follow.
In plain English.
Many owners know AI could help but are unsure where to start, and are wary of paying for a tool nobody uses. Meanwhile, staff are often already using free AI chat tools on their own, sometimes pasting in customer details. An AI readiness audit looks at both sides: the opportunities and the risks you already carry.
We interview a few people from each part of the business, look at where time goes, and check the state of your data. AI works best on tasks that repeat, follow a pattern and have information in digital form. We score each candidate task on time saved, cost, risk and how ready your systems are, then rank them.
The second half covers safe use. We find out which AI tools are in use today, check them against UK GDPR and guidance from the ICO (the UK data protection regulator), and write a staff AI policy in plain English. It lists approved tools, what data must never be entered, and when a person has to check the output.
It suits you if.
- You want to use AI but do not know which job to start with
- Staff are using ChatGPT or similar tools without any guidance
- You hold customer or patient data and need to stay compliant
- A client or insurer has asked about your AI use
- You want an independent view before buying an AI product
What we do.
Staff interviews
Short conversations with people across the business, because the best opportunities are usually spotted by whoever does the repetitive work.
Data and systems check
We look at where your information lives and whether the systems have APIs, since an AI project can stall on data that is locked in paper or old software.
Ranked opportunity list
Each idea is scored on hours saved, build and running cost, risk and readiness, so the order of work is clear.
Shadow AI review
We find out which AI tools staff already use and what data goes into them, without turning it into a blame exercise.
Written staff AI policy
A policy your team can read in ten minutes, covering approved tools, banned data types, review rules and who to ask.

Questions people ask.
How much does an AI readiness audit cost?
The price depends on the size of the business and how many teams are in scope, so we quote a fixed figure after the free call. You know the full cost before we start, and there is no obligation to buy anything we recommend afterwards.
How long does it take?
For a small business it usually runs over a few weeks, mostly fitted around staff availability for interviews. Each interview takes 30 to 45 minutes. The report and policy follow shortly after the last conversation.
Can we use the policy straight away?
Yes. It is written for your business and handed over as an editable document you own. We suggest a quick read by whoever handles HR or compliance, then issue it to staff. If you want help explaining it, our AI seminars cover safe use in a half day.
How is this different from AI consultancy?
The audit is a fixed, one-off piece of work with a defined report at the end. AI consultancy is ongoing advice as you put the plan into action, choose suppliers or test new tools. Many clients do the audit first and then decide whether they need more.
