Take back control when your developer disappears
We recover your domain, hosting and logins, document what you own and keep the site running.
In plain English.
It happens more often than you would think. The freelancer who built your site stops replying, the agency closes, or the person who handled it all leaves the business. Then the domain renewal email goes to an address nobody reads, and you realise you do not have a single login.
We start by working out what you actually own. Public WHOIS and Nominet records show where your domain is registered, and DNS records reveal who hosts the site and the email. From there we help you prove ownership to each provider and move the accounts into your name.
Once access is back in your hands, we take a full backup, look at the code and plugins, and give you an honest view of the site's condition. Some sites only need updates and a care plan. Others are better rebuilt, and we will say so plainly.
It suits you if.
- Your web developer or agency has stopped responding
- You do not know who your domain or hosting is with
- The domain is registered in someone else's name
- Nobody in the business has an admin login to the site
- You want a fresh pair of eyes before deciding whether to rebuild
What we do.
Ownership detective work
We trace your registrar, hosting company and email provider from public records, so you know exactly who to contact.
Domain recovery
For .uk domains we guide you through Nominet's process for proving you are the registrant. For .com and others, we work with the registrar to update the account.
Hosting and site access
We help you request account access from the host, or arrange a transfer of files and database to hosting you control.
Condition report
A plain review of the platform, plugin age, PHP version, security and backups, with a clear repair or rebuild recommendation.
A single access record
Every account is listed in a document you keep, with notes on renewal dates, so you never lose track of them again.
How it runs.
- 01
Free 15-minute call
Tell us your web address and what you know about who built it. We run a few checks on the call and explain what we can see.
- 02
Trace and recover
We contact registrars and hosts with you, gather proof of ownership and move accounts across one at a time.
- 03
Back up and review
With access restored, we back everything up and write the condition report.
- 04
Decide the next step
You choose whether to keep the site under our care, improve it, or plan a rebuild. Nothing proceeds without a price you have agreed.
Questions people ask.
Can you get my domain back if it is in the developer's name?
Often, yes. Registrars and Nominet have processes for this, and invoices, company records or trading history usually help prove the domain belongs to your business. It can take a few weeks, so it is worth starting before the renewal date.
What does a takeover cost?
Recovery work varies a lot depending on how many providers are involved and how cooperative they are. We give you a fixed price for the recovery and review after the free call, and quote anything further separately.
Will my email keep working while you do this?
We plan around it. Email usually depends on DNS records at the domain, so we copy those exactly before moving anything. If email has to move too, we schedule it so messages are not lost.
Do I have to stay with you afterwards?
No. The point of a takeover is that you own everything. You get every login and a backup, and you are free to keep the site with us, look after it yourself or hand it to someone else.
