How much does a website cost in Nottingham and Derby? (2026)
Published prices from local web designers range from about £250 to well over £10,000. Here is what you get at each level, and the yearly costs to budget for.
The short answer
In October 2026 we went through the published prices of web designers and agencies around Nottingham and Derby. The cheapest starter sites began at about £250. Small studios building sites for local businesses mostly priced between £700 and £3,000. Larger agencies quoted typical projects between about £2,000 and £10,000, with some starting simple brochure sites at around £4,000. Online shops started from roughly £1,300 and ran into five figures.
Those numbers do not tell you which one is right for you. What changes the price is how much is built for you, how many pages there are, and what the site has to do beyond showing information.
What you get at each price level
- Around £250 to £700: a small site of three to five pages, often from a template, with a contact form. Fine for a sole trader who mainly needs to look credible when someone searches their name.
- Around £700 to £3,000: a designed site with more pages, search basics built in from the start, and room for bookings, galleries or a quote form.
- £2,000 to £10,000 and up: agency builds with discovery workshops, custom design, copywriting, larger shops and integrations with other systems.
The running costs people forget
The build is a one-off. A website also costs money every year, and these are the lines to ask about before you sign anything.
- Domain name: published prices locally were roughly £13 to £20 a year.
- Hosting: from about £5 a month for basic hosting to £39 to £60 a month for managed hosting with updates and support.
- Email on your own domain: often charged separately, especially with Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.
- Changes after launch: some include a set number of hours, others charge by the hour.
Questions to ask any web designer
- Is the price fixed and in writing, and what exactly does it include?
- Who owns the website, the content and the domain when it is paid for?
- What will I pay each year after launch?
- Can I see something working before I pay a deposit?
- What happens if I want to move to someone else later?
What we charge
Our small business website is £395 for sole traders and businesses with up to 5 employees, and bespoke websites start from £995. Hosting is from £9.95 a month. You can also pay monthly, from £44.95 a month for 12 months with hosting included and nothing upfront. Every project starts with a working prototype before any deposit, and the website is yours once it is paid for.
